Pragma · Communication problems
AI couples app for communication problems: Pragma, a coach built for two.
Pragma is an AI couples app for communication problems. Each of you talks with an AI coach for about 15 minutes a day, by voice or chat. You bring the conversation that went wrong, and the session ends on one small thing to try. Pragma is an AI relationship coach, not a therapist. It does not diagnose or treat.

Download Pragma on your phone
Free to download on iPhone and Android. Each of you gets a private 15-minute session a day, by voice or chat.
This page is for the partner whose talks keep turning into the same argument. It covers what the app does, how it works for two and what it costs. It also says when an app is the wrong tool. Still comparing kinds of apps first? Our guide to what an AI couples therapy app does covers the category.
What you get
What Pragma does for couples with communication problems
Pragma works on the moment where talking turns into arguing. Each partner has a short guided session on their own phone. The coaching stays on how you speak, listen and repair.
A daily session
Each of you has a 15-minute session by voice or chat. Say Tuesday's talk about the dishes ended in silence again. The coach asks what was said, helps you see the pattern and ends with one thing to try.
A rehearsal space
You can practice how to open a hard topic before you raise it at home. Money, chores and in-laws are common ones.
Three coaches
You choose one of three AI coaches with different styles and can switch any time. Juno, Connection Coach, is warm and leans on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Aria, Clarity Coach, is structured and uses CBT-style questions. Kai, Momentum Coach, is encouraging and solution-focused.
The aim is a daily habit of talking better, not one big conversation.

How it works
How an AI couples app for communication problems works for two partners
In Pragma, each partner has a private account, and the two accounts are paired by a code. That lets you work on communication as a pair without reading each other's words.
- One of you starts alone. Start the trial on the web. The partner who is ready can begin tonight.
- The other joins with a code. When your partner is ready, they enter your 8-character invite code.
- Each of you practices privately. Your partner sees your completion, streak and exercise progress, never your transcripts.
Transcripts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The Journal keeps each session for you alone, with its date, length and an AI summary. Pragma also works in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Arabic, so you can practice in the language you argue in.
Private practice on both sides is what keeps the shared work safe.

Between sessions
The Practice and The Blueprint for couples communication
The Practice gives you 13 programs of 7 to 10 days, with one short task a day. Each task comes with a tip and a short written reflection.
Here is how five common communication problems map to programs in the app. The coach suggestions are ours, based on each coach's style.
- The same argument keeps coming back. Try The Soft Startup, seven days built on the Gottman Method, about 15 minutes a day. Aria's structured questions suit it. See a therapist if the argument keeps escalating despite steady practice.
- One of you shuts down. Try Speaking From Needs, seven days built on Nonviolent Communication. Juno's warmth suits it. See a therapist if one of you feels unsafe raising anything at all.
- Money or chores turn into blame. Try Catching the Story, seven days built on CBT, to notice the story you tell about your partner. Aria suits it. See a therapist if the topic stalls every time.
- You feel distant and only talk logistics. Try The Daily Debrief, seven days built on the Gottman Method, about 20 minutes a day. Juno or Kai suit it. See a therapist if the distance lasts after weeks of practice.
- Only one of you is ready. Start with your own daily sessions with Kai, then invite your partner. See a therapist if you want help with the relationship as a whole.
The Blueprint shows your progress over time: sessions, minutes, streaks and how often you followed through.
These programs are coaching exercises, not treatment.

The science
Built on methods couples therapists use
The coaching is built on six methods that couples therapists train in. They are the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, Nonviolent Communication, attachment theory and positive psychology.
Pragma's methods page credits each framework and shows where it appears in the app. Pragma is not affiliated with or endorsed by the owners of these methods.
Pricing
What an AI couples app for communication problems costs
Pragma costs $19.99 a month, $44.99 every three months or $119.99 a year, per partner. The yearly plan works out to $10.00 a month, and every plan includes every feature.

When to get more help
An app like this is not for abuse, danger, trauma or thoughts of self-harm. It is not for a mental health condition that needs treatment. Pragma's privacy policy says it scans sessions for signs of crisis and points to resources. It is not an emergency service.
In the US, call or text 988 at any hour. The Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. You can find more helplines on Pragma's crisis resources page for couples.
When the same hurt keeps returning despite steady practice, see a licensed couples therapist. Many couples use both.
Honest answers
Frequently asked questions about AI couples apps for communication problems
Can an AI couples app help with communication problems?
Yes, as practice. An AI couples app can help you spot a repeating pattern, rehearse a hard talk and try one small change. It cannot read the room or treat anything. Pragma is a coach, not a therapist.
Can I use the app if my partner won't?
Yes. In Pragma, one partner can start alone and work on what they can change. The other can join later with an 8-character code. The practice goes further when both of you take part.
Can my partner read what I say to the coach?
No. In Pragma, transcripts are encrypted and never shown to your partner. Your partner sees only your completion, streak and exercise progress.
Does an AI couples app replace couples therapy?
No. An app gives short daily practice, but it cannot assess, diagnose or treat. For abuse, betrayal or a mental health condition, see a licensed professional. Many couples use an app between sessions.
