Couples app to reconnect after having a baby: Pragma, in the minutes you have.
A couples app to reconnect after having a baby has to fit an exhausted routine. Pragma is one: an AI relationship coach that gives each of you a private 15-minute session, by voice or chat. Each session ends with one small thing to try, such as two minutes of real talk after bedtime. Pragma is a coach, not a therapist.

Get the app
Download Pragma on your phone
Free to download on iPhone and Android. Each of you gets a private 15-minute session a day, by voice or chat.
This page is for new parents whose conversations have shrunk to feeds, naps and whose turn it is. It covers what Pragma does, which other apps fit, what it costs and when you need more than an app. For what helps without any app, read our guide to why couples stop talking after having kids.
Inside Pragma
Why reconnecting after a baby is hard
The first years with a baby strain most relationships. The Gottman Institute's Bringing Baby Home page says 67% of couples see their relationship quality drop significantly. That covers the first three years.
Sleep loss, a new division of labor and less time alone all play a part. It is common, and it is not a sign that something is wrong with the two of you.
What you get
What Pragma does for new parents
Pragma gives each partner a short guided session that fits whatever window you get. It works on reconnecting, not on fixing anything.
A session in the gaps
Each of you has a 15-minute session by voice or chat on your own phone. Type during a night feed, or talk after bedtime. The coach helps you notice what you miss and ends with one small step.
Three coaches
You pick one of Juno, Aria and Kai, Pragma's three AI coaches. Juno is warm and leans on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Aria is structured and uses CBT-style questions. Kai is encouraging and solution-focused.
Other apps new parents use to reconnect
Each app below does a different job. We checked each on its own page on 11 October 2026.
- Gottman Card Decks. Free. The Gottman Card Decks App Store listing lists 22 decks, including six Bringing Baby Home decks for parents.
- Paired. Daily questions you both answer. Paired's FAQ on Premium pricing lists $79.99 per couple per year.
- Pragma. A coached session for each of you, ending on one step. Priced per partner, below.

How it works
How Pragma works for two tired partners
Each of you uses Pragma on your own phone, with a private account. You pair with an 8-character invite code. One of you can start alone if the other is too depleted to join yet.
Transcripts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and never shown to your partner. Your partner sees your completion, streak and exercise progress. The Journal keeps your sessions for you alone, which helps when you need to vent before you talk.

Between sessions
The Practice and The Blueprint for new parents
The Practice has 13 programs of 7 to 10 days, with one short task a day. For new parents, the shortest ones fit best. The Six-Second Kiss takes about five minutes a day for seven days. The Appreciation Habit also takes about five minutes a day.
The Blueprint shows your progress over time: sessions, minutes, streaks and how often you followed through. Small wins count double in a year like this one.

The science
Built on methods couples therapists use
The coaching is built on six methods couples therapists train in. They are the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, Nonviolent Communication, attachment theory and positive psychology.
Pragma's methods page credits each framework and shows where it appears in the app. Pragma is not affiliated with or endorsed by the owners of these methods, including the Gottman Institute.

When to get more help
Postpartum depression and anxiety affect mothers and fathers. Postpartum Support International says 1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads experience postpartum depression. If low mood, anxiety or anger lasts more than two weeks, talk to a doctor.
The PSI HelpLine is 1-800-944-4773, and you can text "Help" to 800-944-4773. It does not handle emergencies. In the US, call or text 988 at any hour. You can find more helplines on Pragma's crisis resources page for couples. Pragma is not an emergency service.
Honest answers
Frequently asked questions about reconnecting after having a baby
Is it normal to feel disconnected after having a baby?
Yes. The Gottman Institute reports that two thirds of couples see a big drop in relationship quality. That covers the first three years. It usually reflects sleep loss and new roles, not a failing relationship.
What is the best app to reconnect after having a baby?
One that fits minutes, not evenings. Gottman Card Decks is free and has decks for new parents. Pragma adds a private coached session for each of you that ends on one small step.
Can I use it if my partner is too tired to join?
Yes. In Pragma, one partner can start alone and invite the other later with an 8-character code. Your sessions stay private.
When is it more than tiredness?
When low mood, anxiety, anger or numbness lasts more than two weeks, in either parent. That can be postpartum depression or anxiety, and it needs a doctor or the PSI HelpLine.
